Whether you are already an expert, just starting out, or would like to learn what manifestation and quantum physics have in common, these are the manifestation books to read in 2023.

The 10 Best Books on Manifestation

1. Ask and It Is Given

By Esther and Jerry Hicks

Ask and It Is Given is an inspirational introduction to Law of Attraction and manifesting. The book differentiates itself from others in the field by introducing an “Emotional Guidance Scale” for practical exercises that help implement manifestation principles into your daily life.

While Esther and Jerry Hicks have a genuine understanding of manifestation, they do not have academic credentials in the subject. Accordingly, the content leans heavily on their personal experiences.

When it comes to readability, we find the book’s structure pragmatic and the language accessible.

Overall, Ask and It Is Given is more of a motivational read than a research paper. In our opinion, the book’s inspirational value, practical exercises, and good readability make it a great starting point for manifestation beginners.

2. The Secret

By Rhonda Byrne

The Secret is one the best manifestation books for beginners.

The Secret is arguably the most influential modern manifestation book. Its main selling point is to be an accessible introduction to the Law of Attraction. The book is built around a philosophical approach stressing the importance of the power of your subconscious mind and positive thinking in life. It contains plenty of real-world examples and practical tips to provide beginners with most of the tools they need to start their manifesting journey.

This book has a special place in my heart because it was one first I read and it had such a big impact on my own personal life. It literally helped me realize my dreams. This book is a great introduction to the life-changing practice that is manifestation by an author who has written multiple bestselling books on the topic.

Whilst the book is not based on scientific empiricism, the quotes from historical figures and anecdotal evidence add reliability. However, at times, the author makes claims that can feel overly positive to some readers.

One of the book’s greatest strengths is the simplicity of its structure and flow. The author has done a great job balancing motivational discourse and practical guidance, making the book one of the most accessible in its genre.

The Secret is a quick read that best serves as an accessible introduction to manifestation. We wholeheartedly recommend it as the “go-to” manifestation book for beginners.

3. The Law of Attraction

By Esther Hicks

The Law of Attraction is one of the most comprehensive works on the topic. The book is characterized by the author’s dialogue with a higher plane entity, “Abraham”. This unique narrative enables Hicks to expand her perspective beyond traditional self-help books and to provide reflective in-depth manifestation guidance. To give some balance to the spiritual angle, the book also contains a lot of practical strategies to put its abstract concepts into action.

The author of this book lacks academic credentials, but despite that, her level of expertise in the Law of Attraction is awe-inspiring.

Considering that the book contains abstract concepts, it’s structured in a clear manner, and the language is relatively simple.

Overall, we find the book inspirational but occasionally over-optimistic. We recommend this book for readers who have already started their manifestation journey and would like to do a deep dive into the concept of the Law of Attraction

4. The Power of Now

By Eckhart Tolle

Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now is a hands-on guide to unlocking the power of living in the present moment to create positive change and heal your life. It sets itself apart from most other manifestation books by emphasizing psychological presence as the foundation of positive change, rather than more common methods such as visualization and affirmations. The book focuses on practical learning and includes plenty of exercises to help shift the reader’s internal mindset to create the fulfilling life they want.

The book is not based on academic research, but the author builds on his personal insights with a focus on real-world application.

Despite the philosophical concepts the book contains, Tolle has done a great job with maintaining a simplicity in the narrative, making the book easily digestible.

The Power of Now is not your typical manifestation book. The inspirational value of its methodology is highly subjective, though most readers find its techniques impactful. We recommend this book for seasoned manifestation practitioners who would like to try something new or widen their perspective.

5. Super Attractor

By Gabrielle Bernstein

Super Attractor, written by a New York Times bestselling author, is a different take on manifestation. Its main thesis is that alignment with the positive energy of the universe is the key to manifesting one’s desires. The book stands out for the exercises and other practical tools it contains, which should help you to apply its teachings in your day to day life and manifest your desires.

The book is based on Bernstein’s personal experiences and insights. Although this approach provides high inspirational value, in our view the book would benefit from including scientifically backed research.

Bernstein uses conversational tone and personal anecdotes. Her stylistical choices benefit readability and make the book accessible to both beginner and expert readers a like.

The Super Attractor is a great read for those struggling to align their own lives and energy with the universe. We recommend it to readers who have already started their manifestation journey and are ready for the next step.

6. The Alchemist

By Paulo Coelho

The Alchemist is one of the few manifestation books with a fictional narrative and a significant work in modern literature. It tells the tale of Santiago, a young shepherd from Andalusia, who sets to find treasure but instead ends up on a spiritual journey to self discovery. The author’s key thesis is that one’s true purpose (or “Personal Legend”, as Coelho puts it) is achievable by following their heart.

Coelho alternates between classical structures within the fictional story he tells, weaving in timeless guidance for personal development and personal growth. The style of writing is simple, but because of the fictional narrative, there is more depth to the content than first meets the eye.

The Alchemist’s strengths lie in its storytelling, creative imagination, and ability to inspire. However, this is not the book to choose for practical manifestation guidance and exercises. In our view, it’s a great fictional read for anyone with an interest in manifestation and other spiritual practices.

7. Becoming Supernatural

By Adam Boyce, Joe Dispenza, et al.

What makes this book different from many others in the manifestation book genre is the blend of spirituality and science. Becoming Supernatural does not only rely on personal insights or anecdotal evidence, but it also refers to case studies and other forms of research rooted in science. The book offers a range of techniques aimed at changing one’s own life, through the transformative power of human mind, including meditation and mental affirmations.

While the narrative of this book is at times dense due to it scientific nature, the authors’ style is clear and instructive, which makes the book accessible to most readers.

This book’s strength is in its empowering hybrid approach that combines the author’s personal insights with scientific research. We would primarily recommend this book to readers that feel skeptical about manifestation (perhaps your husband ;). It’s also great for readers who have already started their manifesting journey and would like to learn more about the scientific concepts and the spiritual laws that underlay the process.

8. The Magic of Manifesting

By Ryuu Shinohara

The Magic of Manifesting focuses on manifestation techniques. What makes this book special is its straightforward approach emphasizing simplicity over complicated rituals. The book’s techniques, which focus on positive thinking, removing negative energy, and clarity of purpose, are practical but also imaginative in the sense that they go beyond your standard affirmations.

Although the book is not based on scientific research, the content feels empowering and accessible. What we like about this book, among other things, is that author has done a great job with breaking down difficult spiritual topics into practical techniques that are easy to digest.

The Magic of Manifesting is great for its simple but powerful manifestation techniques. It’s a useful read for everyone, but we recommend this book in particular for medium to advanced level practitioners who have hit a plateau or who are otherwise looking to improve their manifestation toolset.

9. The Game Of Life And How To Play It

By Florence Scovil Shinn

The Game of Life and How to Play It used to be a piece that was missing from my own practice. What I personally like about this book is that it’s one of the original sources of many manifestation ideas that others have built upon (the book was written back in 1925). In addition to timeless wisdom, this book contains a lot of practical techniques that have survived the test of time and are still effective in 2023.

Although the author is not an academic in the traditional sense, she was the thought leader of her time, and the ideas presented in this book (including the book’s key thesis that life is a game) were seen as revolutionary.

The style of the writing is a little old-school, but simple. Despite the book’s old age, the language remains accessible for most readers, but don’t expect any emojis.

This book is an inspiring read as one of the “original sources” for manifestation methods that are popular today. We recommend this book for more advanced practitioners who want to “go back to the roots” and master the spiritual principles that underlie modern manifestation methods.

We also recommend this book to the fans of Think and Grow Rich Napoleon Hill. Both books were among the pioneers of this genre, and share a similar approach on using the power of thought to attract personal success and navigate life’s challenges.

10. Creative Visualization

By Shakti Gawain

Creative Visualization is a pioneering book based on the idea that our mental imagery can shape reality. What makes this book special is its focus on using visualization to transform your life. It introduced a step-by-step guide on these now-popular methods long before they went mainstream.

This book, though not scientific, is a great practical guide with plenty of instructions for relaxation and visualization. However, the content leans heavily on Gawain’s personal growth journey and stories, and it has only a few external sources.

We like the author’s style, which is straightforward and instructive, but at the same time empathetic. Put together with the language, which is relatively modern and easy to understand, this book is suitable for both casual and expert readers.

Overall, this book serves as an accessible pathway in taking you visualization to the next level. We would recommend this book for manifestation practitioners who already have some experience and have an interest in improving their visualization technique.
